Halq or Taqsir
After Sa'i, the pilgrim shaves (halq) or trims (taqsir) the hair. This final act ends Ihram and completes Umrah.
Halq (Men)
Shaving the entire head. The Prophet ο·Ί supplicated three times for those who shave, so halq is the more rewarded option for men.
Taqsir (Men)
Trimming hair evenly from all over the head. Permitted, but shaving is better. Do not trim only part of the head.
Women
Women gather their hair and cut a fingertip length (about 2–3 cm) from the ends. Women do not shave.
Cut the hair only after completing Sa'i — doing it earlier is a common mistake. Men should shave or trim the whole head, not just a few strands. Once done, all Ihram restrictions are lifted and normal clothing may be worn.
If you plan an additional Umrah on the same trip, trimming (rather than shaving) leaves a little hair to cut next time — though shaving each time remains valid.
