Follow the Sunnah
Sunnahs of Umrah
Alongside the pillars, following the Prophet's ﷺ practice increases the reward and beauty of your Umrah. These acts are recommended, not obligatory.
Ghusl & Perfume Before Ihram
Bathing before Ihram and applying scent to the body (not the garments) beforehand.
Enter with the Right Foot
Entering Masjid al-Haram with the right foot while making the du'a of entering the mosque.
Idtiba' & Raml
Men baring the right shoulder throughout, and walking briskly in the first three Tawaf circuits.
Istilam
Touching or pointing to the Black Stone at each circuit with the takbir.
Drink Zamzam
Drinking Zamzam after the two rak'ah of Tawaf, facing the Qiblah, and supplicating.
Du'a at Safa & Marwah
Standing on Safa and Marwah facing the Qiblah with dhikr and du'a, repeated three times.
Further Sunnahs include praying two rak'ah behind Maqam Ibrahim, reciting the Talbiyah abundantly until Tawaf, and keeping the exact Prophetic sequence — Ihram, Tawaf, two rak'ah, Sa'i, then Halq/Taqsir.
Aim to perform the rites calmly and with presence of heart. Rushing, arguing or crowding others removes the barakah these Sunnahs are meant to bring.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ghusl and perfume before Ihram, reciting the Talbiyah abundantly, entering the Haram with the right foot, idtiba' and raml for men in Tawaf, istilam of the Black Stone, praying two rak'ah at Maqam Ibrahim, drinking Zamzam, and du'a at Safa and Marwah.
No. Idtiba' (baring the right shoulder) and raml (brisk walking) are Sunnahs of the Tawaf of Umrah only. Cover both shoulders before praying the two rak'ah and before Sa'i.
Umrah is valid by completing its pillars. The Sunnah acts add reward and completeness but missing them does not invalidate Umrah.
